Canon EOS Rebel T6i Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T6i is a part of the EOS Rebel series, which is meant for entry-level DLSRs, but each is made strong to perform and keep up with its user’s needs. This latest offering is making use of 24.2 MP and an APS-C sensor, which is now available from the brand.

Improvements and design 8/10

The Canon EOS Rebel T6i is a direct development of the T5i, its lower price model.  Most DLSR cameras look similar, and the brand did not try breaking the tradition with this camera.   The camera has a great LCD located on its top deck, giving you a quick view of your settings and preferences. It is an excellent readout for the more experienced photographers.

The brand has made the Canon EOS Rebel T6i better for those looking for advanced settings, but they don’t also want to offer it at a very high price especially for those looking for an advanced model but want a lighter option.

Mounting and lenses 8/10

This camera has the Canon EF mount on its front, ideal for many lenses, especially for Canon lenses. It also offers lens release as well as the preview button for the depth of field, helping you check out how much of the scene to focus on.  In addition, this has a remote sensor on its grip, keeping it convenient to use as well as a self-timer lamp and red eye reduction features.

You will also find the buttons for the AF area selection, shutter, ISO and log wheel, although repositioned. When compared, the T6s models come with a button letting you illuminate the mono LCD, but the T6i has its Wi-Fi indicator.  The two cameras, however, are offering the same modes, including scene, PASM, smart auto, macro, sports, portrait, landscape, flash off and creative auto.

Rear panels and touchscreen 8/10

They’re almost identical with 3in varying angle touchscreen LCDs and .82x optical viewfinders. You will find that the brightness of the LCD is pretty good even at daytime. However, you might want to up it when shooting in a very bright day especially if switching to the live view.

It has an easy to use touchscreen as well, allowing you to move through or switch from one menu to another for changes you need. It also has a usable viewfinder, which is smaller than those higher end cameras.

Both the T6i and T6 have the same controls and buttons, but their location is quite different.  On the other hand, the T6 offers a quick control dial around its 4-way controller, but this model doesn’t.

Performance 9/10

The brand has upgraded from its 18MP sensor into the latest 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor. This model is also now using the latest image processor, DIGIC, so it is quite more responsive.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Canon EOS Rebel T6i is a decent choice for its price point. It lets beginners and advanced users utilize the advanced features and settings with ease, convenience and comfort. If you’re online checking the best offers of Canon, you might as well want to consider the Canon EOS Rebel T6i.
