Samsung Galaxy A8 Review

Are you looking for a mid-range Smartphone? Then, you might want to take a second look at the Samsung Galaxy A8 for its superb design and style.  It looks as impressive as pricier phones on the market now. However, it might not come close to the flagship S8. Let’s check out the following review for more information about it.

Design 7.0

While it has waterproofing and premium materials, it does not look as futuristic as S8. From afar, the two look very similar, but not when you get the chance to hold both in your hands.  For one, the A8 has larger bezels, which quite ruin the edge-to-edge impression and futuristic appeal. It only means that they don’t make the A8 as neat looking as the S8.  This phone also feels bigger even if it is just very slightly thicker and wider than the flagship Samsung S8. The Galaxy S8 is also lighter at 5.36 ounces versus the A8’s 6.07 ounces weight.

Water-resistance rating 8.0

The phone will survive a short plunge in the water because it has an IP68 rating. It might also be able to withstand the hot summer days by the pool. Based on tests, the phone would be able to survive for up to 30 minutes on a depth of up to five feet.

Connectivity 9.0

It supports a wide range of bands so you can get the most of an LTE connection around the world.

Camera 9.0

It works as impressive as other models although not as price. But still, the flagship phone works better in this aspect. Samsung One is still the camera app that you can quickly launch by clicking the home button.

Materials 7.0

Made of metal and glass, the Samsung A8 looks and feels premium at that. Its glass component is the latest and most durable in the series. On the other hand, the metal component is the 7K series aluminum that comes with a matte finishing versus the glossy of the S8. But while glass looks superb, it is much sensitive, so we suggest carrying the phone with a case to prevent it from shattering. Nevertheless, you will have a better grip on the phone versus on other phones because it has a glass back that is not as slippery as others are.

Buttons 9.2

Nice to press, feel clicky and made of metal, the buttons are quite impressive.  On the other hand, you can find the loudspeaker button on the phone’s right side, and the USB-C port on the bottom, along with the headphone jack.

Interface and Functionality 7.0

When considering the Samsung Experience UI, you would probably notice the same thing with all the rest of its phones. The A8 is no different.  The UI looks good, but then not as impressive as the likes of OnePlus or Google Pixel.  The A8’s UI still seem to work with stutter although not that bad to ruin your overall experience.

The good news is that with the Samsung Experience 8.5 because it does far many more things faster versus the flagship phone S8 in our daily grind. Users will also appreciate the universal search function on the interface.

Performance 8.4

The Smartphone has the Samsung Exynos 7885 chip that works better than the Snapdragon 625 does. This chip is designed and built to ensure that it won’t be consuming too much power. For everyday task, the A8 is quite an impressive phone, although still the chip does not break any records.  By saying that, you might want to go for other alternatives if you’re a gamer.

Verdict

Overall, the Samsung A8 2018 is one of the best smart phones on the market for your daily grind. It works fast and smoothly, comes with a great camera and costs more affordable than the S8 is.  If you’re looking for a mid-range phone, go for it unless you’re a gamer looking for a better performing phone.
